SUGGESTIONS FOR THE USE OF Hymns and Songs for the TO THE LEADER OR SUPERINTENDENT: Acquaint yourself thoroughly with the book, both words and music. Use at first the hymns you know, selecting those appropriate to the day and season. Learn at least one new hymn each Sunday. Have your Sunday school choir, or a number of your best singers, practice new hymns. You can sing through the book in a few rehearsals. If possible, always have a Sunday school choir. Follow the directions in the book. Sing stirring hymns briskly, graver hymns more slowly. Make use of the Appendix. Have your Sunday school choir, or a group of selected singers, learn the selections. Eventually teach them to the whole school.
