The Sunday-school Worker.

A WORKMAN THAT NEEDETH NOT BE ASHAMED.

ANOTHER year has passed away, and our Lord has not yet returned. We have often been struck with that sudden transition, or rather beautiful combination (in the last chapter of the Revelation) of our saying 'Come' to the Lord Jesus, and then, almost in the same breath, turning to the poor thirsty one of this world and inviting him to come and take the water of life freely.

This again brings to mind the solemn fact that the answer to the Come' addressed to our Lord will hush the sound of our 'Come' to a perishing world, and will usher in that appalling scene that awaits an apostate Christendom.

But the day of grace still lingers on; and week after week gives the Sunday-school teacher one more opportunity to meet his scholars and tell them the good news of salvation.

Let us not faint, nor grow weary of our work of faith and labour of love. A little longer and these opportunities will be gone for ever. Oh that the love of Christ might constrain us-a love that many waters could not quench, and that endured to the end.

It is true, there is much to discourage us in the scholars, and our poor bodies, it may be, cry aloud for rest; but let us remember that there remaineth
