I kept this book around for a long time before I read it and I would always look at it on the shelf and think that when I got to read it I would really like it. And hey, I was right.
There was a point about halfway through where I thought it was starting to drag a bit, but it quickly picked up again and the last part is really very good. Sadly, it doesn't quite rank up there with my all-time favs, but it was still really nicely constructed and developed, with an interesting cast of characters and great atmosphere.
I recommend it especially because the interplay between Rebecca, the narrator, and Mr de Winter makes for such an interesting study of human nature, particulary female human nature and its struggles.

Quotes Mariana Liked
“If only there could be an invention that bottled up a memory, like scent. And it never faded, and it never got stale. And then, when one wanted it, the bottle could be uncorked, and it would be like living the moment all over again.”
